Get rich Quick!

Write a book.

There's a short and simple way to say it.  Don't count on writing a book and getting rich.

There's also a longer and more detailed way to say it.  Write because you have something to say, you love the process of writing, and you want to share your story, not because you want to get rich.

Writing a book is work.  You might have a longing to tell a story and a longing to see your name on a great cover, but it all takes time and dedication.

Start by thinking about your story.

Who are your characters? Make a list. Name them, describe them, explain their relationship to each other.

Where does it take place? Is the place real or made up? If it's real, you need to know or learn details about it.

What is the conflict? A character's inner conflict, conflict with another, or conflict in society? Maybe all three.

How will you tell this story? Mainly, will it be in first person or third person? Are you telling it from the main character's vision? Is there a nameless, anonymous narrator?

Once you have all that, you can start writing.  Like everything else in life, you have to start before you can finish. So just start! You can always change things.

Once your story is started, keep going. You might not get rich, but you'll love the process.
